Andres is a first-year Ph.D. student interested in the intersection of soft robotics, control theory, planning, and perception.  He aims to advance the autonomous capabilities of soft robotics, which will enable them to be more viable in the real world more quickly.  He is advised by Dr. Elliot Hawkes and Dr. Tobia Marcucci.  Previously, he interned at Caltech working on multi-satellite missions under Dr. Soon-Jo Chung and Dr. James Ragan.  He graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in mathematics from Cal Poly Pomona.  He has a strong background and interest in computer science and mathematics.
